About Galland Leatherworks

Small-batch leatherwork built in California with Italian vegetable-tanned hides, stitched and finished by hand.

The maker

A different kind of second chance

Galland Leatherworks started after everything else in my life stopped.

A car accident took me off the path I was on and forced me to slow down. During that downtime I began to pursue something I'd always been drawn to; leather.

What began as a way to keep my hands busy became an obsession - straight stitches, perfectly painted edges, better pattern design, the works.

Galland is the result of that pivot. Proof that something built deliberately can last.

- Kyle Galland Zelinsky, maker at Galland Leatherworks

The Galland Standard

No shortcuts. Just obsessive attention to the details you feel every time you reach for your cards.

Materials without compromise

Galland works with premium Italian vegetable-tanned leathers like Buttero and Vachetta - the kind of leather that burnishes, softens, and develops character instead of cracking or peeling.

In-house design and build

Patterns are designed in-house, and every wallet is built start to finish by me. No outsourcing, no factory lines - just focused, precise craft.

Edges that feel like glass

Edges are sanded smooth, then built up with multiple coats of edge paint to our standard. After that they are polished, waxed with hot wax, and polished again. It is slow. That is the point.

Our craft, step by step

Every Galland leather wallet is designed, cut, and hand-stitched in California using Italian vegetable-tanned leather. Here's what goes into the quiet, durable feel you notice on day one.

Intentional patterns

Clean, minimalist layouts designed in-house to stay slim in your pocket, protect high-stress areas, and age into a smooth patina instead of stretching out.

Precision cuts

Panels are cut with tight tolerances so seams align and edges finish glass-smooth. Accurate cuts mean tighter stitches and less bulk where cards stack.

Hand saddle stitching

Every seam is stitched by hand with a traditional saddle stitch - two needles, one hole - for strength that won't unravel. If a thread ever wears, the line stays locked.

Edges that feel like glass

Edges are sanded, painted in multiple coats, sanded between each, hot-waxed, and polished. The result is an edge that looks uniquely excellent.

Lean, durable build

Layering and skiving keep the profile slim without sacrificing structure, so your wallet feels solid in hand but disappears in your pocket.

Leather that earns character

Italian Buttero and Vachetta leathers deepen in color, develop a natural sheen, and record your carry over time - no plastic coatings, just honest patina.

Galland wallets are intentionally small-batch. Each batch is built slowly, one piece at a time, with the goal of being carried for years - not just photographed once and forgotten.

The details you feel

The difference isn't just how a wallet looks in photos - it's how it feels to own.

Hand saddle-stitched seams

Every seam is stitched entirely by hand. The result: a line of thread that looks and feels more like a piece of jewelry than a row of perforations.

Slim, not fragile

Layouts are designed so the leather flexes where it should and stays firm where it should not - slim in the pocket, solid in the hand.

Edges you can't unfeel

Run your thumb along the edge of a Galland wallet and you will feel the difference immediately: rounded, smooth, and warm, not sharp or plasticky.

Leather that grows with you

Vegetable-tanned leather deepens in color, picks up a natural sheen, and tells the story of how you carry it. Your patina, not a factory finish.
